As bodies pile up and cattle go missing around a Maine lake, Jack Wells (Bill Pullman) is forced to team up with office-dwelling Kelly Scott (Bridget Fonda) to investigate the mystery, and friction eventually gives way to friendship as the two pursue the beast.
