On the open prairie of Oklahoma, a pretty schoolteacher (Martha Scott) comes between two bitter rivals, Dan Somers (John Wayne) and Jim "Hunk" Gardner (Albert Dekker), who split their time between fighting for the lady and competing for oil lease rights on Indian land.
