Born July 18, 1980, in Detroit, Kristen Bell began acting at age 11 and honed her craft in community theater before being cast in a small part in Polish Wedding (1998) the year she graduated from high school.

After earning her bachelor's degree in musical theater from New York University's prestigious Tisch School of the Arts, Bell chose to return to the stage. She debuted on Broadway as Becky Thatcher in "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" (2001) and starred in the 2002 revival of playwright Arthur Miller's "The Crucible" (opposite Laura Linney and Liam Neeson). But Bell is undeniably most famous for her television role as teen sleuth Veronica Mars in the hit show of the same name.

Bell has also appeared in the cable-TV parody Reefer Madness: The Movie Musical (2005), on the big screen in Fifty Pills (2006) and in the hit TV series "Heroes."
