After completing the theater program at Stephens College, she initially found work on the Los Angeles stage (earning a Dramalogue Award for her role in "Vanities").
With a presence that's exotic and earthy, Tilly got her big break in films when she was cast as a singing waitress in The Fabulous Baker Boys (1989). Five years later, she received an Academy Award nomination for her portrayal of an untalented actress in Woody Allen's Bullets Over Broadway. In the intervening years, she's played a variety of roles in both independent and major studio films, including Liar Liar, Bound and the Child's Play series of horror films.
A mean poker player, Tilly won the Ladies-Only No Limit Texas Hold 'Em event at the World Series of Poker. Actress Meg Tilly is her sister.
