Born in Paris on Jan. 23, 1928, Jeanne Moreau studied at the Paris Conservatory of Dramatic Arts before making both her stage and screen debut in 1948. But it was nearly a decade before she found exciting work in fledgling director Louis Malle's new wave experiments Elevator to the Gallows (1958) and The Lovers (1958), films that led to her star-making turn as Catherine in Francois Truffaut's Jules and Jim (1962).

Firmly established as an international icon, Moreau went on to work with legendary directors such as Michelangelo Antonioni, Jean-Luc Godard, Orson Welles, Luis Buñuel and Philippe Agostini, often trying her hand at directing and producing along the way.

She continues to work steadily in both television and film, staying active -- and just as attractive -- in the new millennium with The Will to Resist (2002), Akoibon (2005) and Romeo et Juliette (2006), to name a few.

Her parents had 3 kids each from prior marriages so she grew up with all her older half siblings; Johnny, Chuck, Lisa, Cammie, Wendy, and Lynn.
