A remarkably versatile British actress with a penchant for accents and quirky characters, Emily Blunt was born in London on Feb. 23, 1983. After extensive speech therapy, she overcame a childhood stutter to make a triumphant stage debut opposite Judi Dench in "The Royal Family" in 2001.

Thanks to critically acclaimed turns in Gideon's Daughter (for which she won a Golden Globe Award) and the BAFTA-winning My Summer of Love, Blunt was already well-established in her native England when she landed her first Hollywood film, playing a pin-thin fashionista in The Devil Wears Prada. As Meryl Streep's sneering personal assistant, she stole critics' hearts again -- and her fair share of scenes.

Since then, Blunt's choices have kept audiences guessing. In 2009 alone, she played a scatterbrained American crime scene cleaner in Sunshine Cleaning and a famed English queen in The Young Victoria.
