Benicio Del Toro bio at NetflixBorn on Feb. 19, 1967,
Benicio Del Toro moved from his native Puerto Rico to Pennsylvania after his mother's death when he was 9 years old. While at the University of California, San Diego, one acting class amidst all his business courses changed his career focus, and he soon dropped out of UCSD to train as an actor.
After a few TV guest appearances (including an episode of "Miami Vice") and a sputtering start in film, Del Toro finally hit it big with his Independent Spirit Award-winning performance in the gangster mystery The Usual Suspects.
With his career now on the fast track, Del Toro delivered a stellar performance in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, and then struck Oscar gold with his role as a conflicted cop in Traffic. As well-known for his dedication to his characters as his sleepy good looks, Del Toro has a history of praise from critics worldwide.
